Quizzy is an open Source PHP and AJAX based quiz library. It allows you to quickly and easily add multiple-choice quizzes to your website. All the quiz data is based on XML so making quizzes is very easy. Quizzy has been tested in IE 6+, Firefox, Chrome, Safari 4+, Opera 8+, and Konqueror.

Quizzy only requires PHP5 and jQuery to work. Setting up and customizing Quizzy is fairly easy; you can use quizzyBuilder (an online tool to setup your quizzes) and customize it by simply editing quizzyConfig.js and quizzyConfig.php files.

  • Each option can have a unique block of text to explain the scoring to the user
  • You can add pictures to the quiz description, the question text, and any explanation
  • You aren’t limited to true or false questions. You can assign an arbitrary number of points to each option
  • You can add as many questions as you’d like
  • You can also use the quizzyBuilder to make a quiz graphically
  • Features a robust scoring system where you can define grades and ranks
  • You can even add a unique picture for each rank

ThinkTank is a new, free installable web application that lets you capture the insights and expertise of your social network by collecting and organizing replies to your conversations on Twitter, Facebook and (soon!) other networks. ThinkTank is open source, built by a passionate community of people like you.

ThinkTank can do lots of cool stuff:

  • Show you all of your replies to a message, across both Twitter and Facebook.
  • Display a stream of all photos your friends have posted, or a list of all the links they've tweeted, and ThinkTank automatically expands shortened URLs!
  • Automatically archive your status updates (tweets) for all of your Twitter accounts — you can let your friends sign in to archive their messages, too.
  • Find out insights about your followers and friends, like who's most popular or who updates least often.
  • Archive all of your data in your own database. That makes it easy to export your status updates, follower lists, or any other data in the future.
  • Get detailed statistics about your activity, such as your average replies per day, or how often you update.
  • Publish a presentable list of replies to one of your questions, including integration with blogging tools like WordPress.
  • Whatever else our developer community and plugin authors can dream up

Lately, there’s been quite a fuzz about lazy registration. It turns out that the less the user has to think, the higher the conversion rates are! What a thought! If everybody seems to have a Facebook profile, why not add a one-click user registration? This tutorial will show you how to do that today.

When you combine some neat functionality courtesy of PHP with the cleverness of jQuery you can produce some pretty cool results. NETTUTS has published a tutorial (Creating a Dynamic Poll with jQuery and PHP) for creating a poll using PHP and XHTML, then make use of some jQuery Ajax effects to eliminate the need for a page refresh, and to give it a nice little bit of animation.
